The AI recorder is the small part of a three-year bill
Use transcription volume and the work left after each summary to decide whether an annual plan earns its price.

A US Plaud NotePin currently lists at $159, with 300 transcription minutes each month on Starter. The October 12 plan list prices annual Pro at $99.99 for 1,200 monthly minutes and annual Unlimited at $239.99. That makes the included allowance five hours of processing, and Pro twenty. Recording capacity is separate: a long-lasting recorder can capture far more than the service will transcribe for free.[1] [2]
Alastair Jennings' three-week TechRadar test of the original NotePin reached about twenty hours of recorded use from a charge. He liked turning meetings into speaker-labelled notes and action points, while finding that the free allowance disappeared quickly with hour-long lectures and overrunning meetings. His September 2025 plan prices are historical. The useful observation is how ordinary meeting length changes the service you need, even when the battery has ample recording time left.[3]
Erin Bashford used Plaud's custom glossary for unusual names in her novel and found it handled them well. Other prompt tests were less exact: an alphabetical summary misplaced items, and speaker separation mixed up some lines. Her Tom's Guide review shows why paying for more processing or specialist tools does not remove checking work. Choose a plan around the feature that improves your actual notes, rather than assuming every generated result is ready to send.[4]
In his January 2026 Clubic test, Nicolas Guyot found Work's plain transcription useful, but its summaries less clearly organised than Plaud's. Mixed French-and-English speech also increased his correction work. That distinction matters when comparing annual plans: an allowance counts processed minutes, while the user still pays for editing with their time. He also sometimes accidentally stopped capture with the sensitive button; a better summary cannot restore a conversation that was never recorded.[5]
At today's US prices, a NotePin plus one annual Pro payment totals $258.99; the hardware plus three such payments totals $458.97. Unlimited gives $398.99 and $878.97 respectively. These are fixed-price scenarios before tax, shipping, replacement hardware or promotions, not guaranteed future renewal quotes. Starter keeps the hardware-only total at $159 if its allowance is enough. Annual billing also differs from buying individual months.[1] [2]
Count a normal month of meetings and voice notes before upgrading. Keep a few outputs and record how much correction or copying they require. A paid tier makes sense when the extra allowance or tools save work you repeatedly do. If your finished notes still sit in an app you rarely reopen, a cheaper plan or your existing phone may be easier to justify.
